The White Sox were established as a major league baseball club in 1901. Originally called the Chicago White Stockings, the name was soon shortened to Chicago White Sox.

Originally playing their home games at South Side Park. It was In 1910, that the team moved to historic Comiskey Park. The Chicago White Sox have also been nicknamed "the South Siders", differentiating them from the North Side Chicago Cubs.
