  • George - A good tipper
  • High Roller - a high stakes gambler
  • Joker's Wild - a form of video poker that uses an extra card (the Joker) as a wild card
  • Ghost - a stop on a slot machine reel that is blank
  • Hit - to receive an additional card in blackjack
  • Juice - the commission that the house charges on buy bets at craps and winning bank bets in baccarat. AKA Vig or Vigorish, the influence that casino executives pass out to lower ranking employees for promotions or special favours
  • Graveyard Shift - The work shift in a casino that works from 2am to 10am
  • Hold - the amount of money retained by the casino after all bets are paid
  • Junket - a trip arranged and paid for by a casino for a group of special players
  • Greens - $25 valued chips
  • Hold'em - a form of poker
  • Junket Rep - organizer of junkets
  • Grifter - a scam or con man
  • Hole Card - second card of the dealer's hand in which he deals to himself face down.
  • keno Board - The electronic sign that indicates the winning keno numbers
  • Grind - small money bettor, a gambling system that requires a long time to play for small rewards
  • Hot - a player on a winning streak, also refers to cards, dice or table where players are winning a lot.
  • Keno Counter - the area where the keno tickets are collected and the winning bets are paid
  • Grind Joint - Casinos that cater to the small money gamblers
  • House Advantage - mathematical advantage or edge the casino enjoys on every game and bet aka PC
  • Keno Runner - An employee who circulates through a casino hotel taking keno bets.
  • Hard Hand - blackjack term relating to any hand that does not contain an Ace counted as 11
  • House Odds - the ratio at which a casino pays off a winning bet, these are set by the casino.
  • Keno Writer - an employee who works at the keno counter taking bets and paying winners
  • Hard Way - In craps a total of fours, six, eight or ten only using pairs.
  • House Dealer - a casino employee who's only concern is the casino's bottom line or one who enjoys seeing players lose.
  • Kicker - in poker an extra card that is kept with a pair to give the impression that the player has more than simply a pair
  • Head to Head - To play against the dealer with no other players, aka heads up.
  • Hustler - a cheat who tries to coax money out of unsuspecting players.
  • Lace - In baccarat a method of mixing the cards after shuffling.
  • Heat - surveillance by a casino of a suspected card counter or a cheater, also pressure on card counter to leave.
  • Inside Straight - a hand that can only be made by drawing one card. e.g. drawing a ten to an hand of 7,8,9,J
  • Ladder Man - the casino supervisor who watches a baccarat game from a high chair
  • Heel a Bet - putting bets in the same square and off setting chips to reveal the chips underneath. sometimes indicates two separate bets other times used to reveal higher denomination chips under a stack.
  • Insurance - a side wager at blackjack made when the dealer is showing an Ace in which the player bets that the dealer is holding a natural blackjack.
  • Lammers - Plastic buttons that signify the amount of commission owed by players at a baccarat game also identifies the amount of money issued to a player for a marker.
  • High Card - Jack or Better
  • Jackpot - a large payout, either on a table or a machine
  • Laying Odds - for the wrong bettor to make an odds bet on a don't come or don't pass bet
  • High Hand - One or two hands in pai gow or pai gow poker
  • Joint - a derogatory term for a casino
  • Layout - The design imprinted on the table showing the various bets at the games.
