The first Turkish Grand Prix was held in 2005, the drivers love this circuit which was designed by that master of course designers Hermann Tilke. A circuit that comprises 14 exacting turns contributes towards flow and difficulty that drivers expect and love.
This is one of three circuits that flow the wrong way round in that it runs anti clockwise, Turn 1 dips down and arcs left and usually causes all kinds of problems at the beginning of the race.
Fortunately the timing of this event has been improved by moving it to May, which should spare the drivers from the oppressive heat you get in Istanbul in August . What makes it a difficult track well it runs anti clockwise for a start the twisting combination of turns 12, 13, 14 defeats any attempts at compromise set ups.
