Bet on London Racers with Willhill
Elite Ice Hockey League
Lee Valley Ice Centre is the Home of the London Racers Ice Hockey Team, The Racers came into being in 1936 when Canadian Brigadier-General A.C. Critchley built Harringay Arena at the time it was the finest ice rink in Britain with a capacity of 11,000. Critchley an Ice Hockey fan wanted a top ice hockey team to fill the rink and thus the RACERS were born. It is believed the name racers came from the Speedway Team that raced in the adjacent arena.
For almost a quarter of a century the RACERS were the team to beat in International Ice Hockey, they beat allcomers Russia, Canada. They played the very first televised Ice Hockey game the year ws 1938.
Under head coach Dennis Maxwell and with a great selection of summer signings expect this team to be chasing the honours by the end of the season.
