The Scottish Premiership Not just about the old firm

The North-East based club enjoyed their most successful period in history during the early 1980's when Alex Ferguson led them to back-to-back titles in 1984 and 1985, and the European Cup Winners Cup in 1983.

During this time many famous players were in the Aberdeen first team including Willie Miller, Eric Black, Alex McLeish and Gordon Strachan.

Over the past few seasons the club have enjoyed a new lease of life under the a new management team.Jimmy Calderwood and Jimmy Nicholl were appointed prior to the 2004 season beginning and led them to a fourth place finish in his first season
