Celtic probably one of the most famous club sides in Europe and their rivalry with Old Firm rivals Rangers is known throughout the world. Founded in 1888 in the East End of Glasgow they have gone on to become one of Scottish footballs biggest success stories.

Under the steward ship of the legendary Jock Stein and Captain Billy McNeill Celtic joined the elite European sides with a magnificent victory over Inter Milan becoming the first British Club to win the European Cup in 1967.

Since the formation of the SPL, they have prospered and continued to be a formidable team. They almost repeated the success of 1967 when they reached the final of the UEFA Cup. Despite defeat at the hands of Porto in the final they have developed a reputation as one of Europe's biggest clubs.

Under former manager Martin O'Neill they achieved one of their most successful periods in years. Martin O'Neill left the club in May 2005 and former Southampton boss Gordon Strachan took over the Glasgow giants.
