Dundee United

Founded in 1909 Dundee United have been one of Scotland's most successful teams.

They were originally known as Dundee Hibernian but became Dundee United in 1923.

In 1971 Jim McLean took over at United and transformed the club into one of the most successful clubs in Scotland. Under the guidance of legendary manager Jim McLean they won the league in 1983 followed by success in Europe when they reached the semi-finals of the European Cup in 1984 and then runners-up in the UEFA Cup in 1987.

The club is well known for its youth policy and it proved to be the cornerstone for the clubs success during the 70's and the 80's.

Famous names to pull on the tangerine shirts are Richard Gough, Kevin Gallacher, Duncan Ferguson and Billy Dodds. There most capped player is Maurice Malpas who holds the record for the most appearances in a United shirt and he is a member of Scotland's Hall of Fame.
