Inverness CT is an highland team that in it's old guise was one of the founder members of the North of Scotland Football Association in 1888, the then 3 clubs of Thistle, Caledonian and Clachnacuddin were the powers behind the formation. Thistle and Caley are the oldest two teams while Clach are a year younger.

Thistle tried to join the scottish league in 1973 but lost by one vote eventually in 1994 Thistle and Caley became Inverness CT playing their first match on Saturday 30th July 1994 against St Mirren. The rest as they say is history
