Poole's 2005 Rider of The Year Bjarne Pedersen has confirmed an extension to his contract with the Poole club through to at least 2007- a season that he is targetted to lift the World title.

Pedersen, who has just completed his fourth successive season as a Pirate having first cut his teeth in British Speedway with Premier league outfit Newcastle, had a near clean sweep of club honours and finished 6th in the world which he believes gives him a firm base to build on. "I have still been learning in the Grand Prix as I have only been in the competition as a permanent rider for three seasons.

Each year I have made progress and whilst I am going to give it my best shot in 2006 but maybe I need a couple more years yet to be really good enough to be world champion. I really love riding for Poole, it is a super club and I am really settled here, both racing wise and personally. I have recently bought a place to live to give me the permanent base as I am really serious at wanting to ride for Poole in the future."
